International Women’s Day hits differently for me this year.

The theme is Give to Gain, and I’ve lived the truth of that, because my career, my confidence, and my capacity to keep going have been shaped by women who gave first.

Women who opened doors and stood in the doorway with me.

Women who held space when I was carrying more than I could name out loud.

Women who challenged me, sharpened me, and reminded me what I’m capable of.

I’ve been fortunate to find that kind of support across chapters and communities:

@dstinc1913 has served as my foundation and my lighthouse since Fall 96.

@loudouncty_mochamoms brought me a local community of Black mothers, and sisters to do life with.

@chief.network , five years in—has been a pivotal circle of women who have guided my professional career alongside true peers.

@thelegacyleaguewomen continues to ground me in purpose, impact, leadership, and giving back.

And there are so many more spaces and places that have poured into me in ways that changed my trajectory.

This year, I’m also holding today with a tenderness I didn’t have before.

Losing my best friend suddenly at the end of 2025 changed a lot of things forever. She was a prolific connector and a true lover of life—and her example remains in my heart and fuels me daily. Losing her rearranged my priorities. It made time feel louder. It reminded me, painfully and clearly that time is fleeting.

We don’t get to “someday” the people we love.

We have today. We have now.

So today I’m saying it plainly: I won’t take the women in my life, personal or professional, for granted.

And I’m committing to Give to Gain in the most practical ways:
-Send the note
-Make the introduction
-Speak her name in the room
-Share the playbook
-Hold the line when it matters

To every woman who has inspired me, sponsored me, advocated for me, and held space for me—thank you. I see you. I carry you with me.

And to the women I’ve had the opportunity to support along the way, thank you for your trust. It’s an honor to stand in your corner.

My question for you today: How will you continue to give—especially to the women who’ve helped shape you?

Almost five years ago, I logged into my very first @chief.network core group meeting in the middle of COVID… with no idea these women (and our facilitator) would become such a defining part of my leadership journey.
Fast forward to this month:
48 core meetings later.
Same circle. Deeper roots. And for the first time ever, we finally got to hug our facilitator, @callanbfleming , in person. 🥹
What started as a Zoom square has become a real, grounded community.

Over nearly five years together, we’ve:
✨ Navigated promotions, pivots, exits, and new roles

💼 Carried each other through restructures and hard leadership calls

💛 Held space for loss, health scares, and family milestones

🎉 Celebrated wins we once only whispered as “someday” goals
We know each other’s patterns, blind spots, and superpowers. We’ve seen each other at our most confident and our most unsure. And through it all, Callan has been the steady center—asking hard questions, holding the container, and reminding us we already have the answers.

Leadership can be isolating.
This group has been the antidote.

So grateful to my core group for the radical honesty, steady accountability, shared laughter, and last-minute strategy huddles that only this circle could offer.
